Fitness In Post

In this episode I chat with Curtis Fritsch about our pre and post-race experience running the Malibu Spartan Sprint. The pre-race interview is in the car on the way to the event, and the post-race interview was done via Skype a couple weeks later. We discuss a little of our training, but mostly we talk about the course specifics, our favorite and least favorite obstacles, and Curtis even threw in a great free plug for Shakeology.

In this episode I speak with returning guest Dr. Michael Mark, a neuropsychologist and co-founder of NeuroEdge Inc, a brain treatment center in Southern California. We discuss the science behind how the brain functions in those with ADD and ADHD, the short and long term effects of medications and stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall, why less people are actually ADD than they think, and how the brain really isn't capable of multitasking the way we think. I also share some of my own tips for avoiding being overwhelmed by too much footage.

We talk about why Kylee wrote the article in the first place, lots of different studies about the gender gap in post-production, wage differences for the same jobs, and we even go as far to discuss sexual harassment and other not-so-pleasant topics.

In our first "Quick & Dirty" episode, I introduce the Fitness In Post "30 Day Challenge," and the challenge for the month of November is 30 push-ups per day. This is an excellent way to introduce a little bit of activity into our daily schedules that doesn't require setting aside extra time to exercise or go to the gym. Have a 60 second render? Drop and do 10 push-ups. Or set a timer and do 5 push-ups every hour for six hours. Or knock out all 30 at once after lunch to kill the pending food coma. It doesn't matter how you get there...the goal is to do 30 total push-ups per day for the next 30 days.

Use the hashtag #FiP30 to let everyone know you're making the commitment to be more active and take back your health!
